Bodily Family Chat

Jim Nielson of the Bodily MyFamily.com website has invited Robert Bodily descendants and relatives to join a chat Sunday, February 8, 2004  7:00 PM  Mountain Time.

“Let’s try the chat feature of our family site. Spread the word. Be patient and keep trying, we have never done this before.” – Jim Nielson

Update: Jim, LuAnn and I chatted, I was on the phone for most of it and didn’t get to converse much. It was fun though. Jim and LuAnn are very knowledgeable about the bodily family, I look forward to future chats.

Joseph Benson Roper History

We have been unable to find a complete history of Joseph Benson Roper as he died in 1910 before many of his grandchildren were old enough to get interested in gathering histories and before the Saints became genealogy conscious. Another sad but true fact is that all of Joseph Benson’s and Hannah Elizabeth’s papers and belongings were burned in a fire leaving hardly anything to glean a history from. What we have has been extracted form History books, church records, and what a few of his grandchildren can remember.

Another Roper family immigrated from Lincoln County England to Utah as Mormons. This family originated from Noah Roper (b 1720 d 1796 both in Lincoln Co. England). The wife of his grandson John William Roper, Susannah Behunin Smith Roper, made the difficult trip to Utah in 1848 with her four children. Her descendants have been prominent in the LDS Church.

Henry (John) Roper Lawrence Utah Cabin

John Henry Roper Cabin Photo

Photo of the cabin that John Henry Roper and Charlotte Elizabeth Mellow Roper owned in Lawrence Ut.  John Henry Roper owned a large amount of land and sold and subdivided the land to form the town of Lawrence. James Leo Roper’s oldest child is believed to be buried in an unmarked grave in the Lawrence Cemetery. This was told to Deloris Ramon and Peggy Harvey by a Great Nephew of Maria D. Wilstead Roper.

Possible Roper child grave Photo

Possibly the grave of James Leo and Maria D. Wilstead Roper’s oldest child. I believe her name was Elizabeth. I am thinking it may even be Charlotte Elizabeth. I am planning to go back to Price Utah to check out other info, especially the circumstances about her death and the death of James Leo Roper. Grandpa talked about his older sister Elizabeth and the old timers of Lawence stated that’s Maria’s baby.
